Michèle Jaffé-Pearce Paintings

About My Work:

Using Abstraction and Abstract Expressionism, my paintings are explorations in intense colour, referencing ancient beliefs in a modern way, and drawing upon symbols, texts, musical notes and gestural marks to convey a sense of joy and exuberance. I use form and colour to set my work free, to give a spiritual charge that takes the viewer away from the mundane, into a world where sparks fly. I paint the tension between discord and glory, arriving hopefully at a place where our inner voice lives, and a new journey begins.

Methods of Painting:

I use oils, inks, brushes, knives, cardboard, pens, sprays, pastels, invented objects, anything that makes interesting marks. One of my greatest joys is sourcing exotic pigments from all four corners.

Influences:

Kandinsky, Chagall, Rothko, Gabo, Calder, Avery, Malevich, Einstein, Steinsalz, Zelda Schneerson.
